Business Needs:
Component shortages threatened Hayden’s ability to ramp up production and meet demand. They needed to resolve critical shortages immediately, and then build a supply chain that would preempt shortages in the future.
Hayden AI is pioneering smart traffic enforcement with its combined hardware and software platform to increase the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of municipal fleet vehicles. Harnessing IoT data for its flagship product, Automated Bus Lane Enforcement, the platform enforces dedicated bus lanes, delivery zones, and intersections to reduce traffic congestion, improve bus speeds, and increase transit ridership.
When Hayden approached Amplio in 2022, they were experiencing significant increases in demand for their flagship bus lane enforcement product, but complex component shortages threatened their ability to capture the demand and grow.
Hayden first asked Amplio to support in resolving an acute component shortage that their Contract Manufacturer wasn’t able to anticipate.
Beyond this first acute component shortage, Hayden wanted to build resilience into their supply chain so that they could prevent shortages from occurring in the future. Their desire was to dynamically understand high risk components and then qualify alternatives for these components to mitigate the risk of future shortages.
Amplio Solution:
Hayden followed Amplio’s typical customer journey as we first worked to resolve a component shortage through our trusted secondary network. Amplio procured components that both met the quality and date code requirements to ensure that Hayden could avoid the cost of shutting down production and meet its ever-growing demand pipeline.
After this, Hayden uses the Amplio's BOM software to understand the Sourcing Power for each of their BOMs and components to preempt future challenges. Sourcing Power indicates a manufacturer’s ability to source individual components both now and in the future based on planned production. Hayden uses Sourcing Power to identify components that require alternatives, and Amplio provides form, fit, and function alternatives for Hayden’s engineering team to confirm.
The Amplio platform provides peace of mind to the Hayden leadership team as they now know that they’re able to meet the aggressive production plans that they set based on their hyper growth.
Finally, towards the end of 2022, Hayden approached Amplio with the stated goal of reducing their BOM cost to expand their operating margins. In addition to highlighting the Sourcing Power, the Amplio DNA platform also creates a procurement strategy that allows customers to optimize their BOM cost based on inventory availability. Powered by our algorithm, Amplio has identified 10% cost savings for Hayden, which leads to $600,000 savings on an annualized basis.
